Fashion Club (LA) with Tenants and Shawna Pair

  • The Midnight Society 3341 Southeast Belmont Street Portland, OR, 97214 United States (map)

Fashion Club (LA) the avant-pop project led by Pascal Stevenson, will deliver a night of bold soundscapes and raw emotion. Stevenson, previously the bassist of Moaning, takes a central role with a fresh approach to songwriting that’s deeply personal yet tinged with broader social commentary. With her new album, A Love You Cannot Shake, she blends 80s synth-driven influences with the brooding elegance of artists like Portishead. Expect ethereal vocals, dense synth layers, and beats that evoke themes of personal transformation, systemic pressures, and inner conflict.

Self-produced by Stevenson, the album reveals her growth as both a solo artist and producer, marked by distorted synths and reflective lyrics about identity and power dynamics. Songs like “Pantomime” showcase her ability to create eerie, compelling soundscapes that are equally atmospheric and intense, making her live performances an immersive journey for audiences.

Fashion Club’s live set aims to translate the record’s intensity into a more dynamic, unpredictable experience. As she explores new territories beyond her previous work, Stevenson’s shows promise a mix of improvisation, high energy, and haunting beauty.

Local favorites Tenants will support Fashion Club for this special show. Their newest album, Nighttime Sunshine, released in October 2024, showcases an eclectic mix of synth-pop, funk, and disco, alongside touches of psych-rock and rockabilly. Produced by Cameron Spies of Night Heron, the album reflects Tenants’ signature collaborative sound, making them the perfect addition to this dynamic lineup.

And there’s a surprise in store—a third act will join the bill, adding a twist to the night. The reveal is coming soon, and it's one you won’t want to miss!
