Darkswoon is a melancholic dark alternative trio blending elements of darkwave, post-punk, dream pop, shoegaze, and electronic music into a haunting yet resonant sound. Originally the solo project of Jana Cushman, now completed with Rachel Ellis on synths and beats and Norah Lynn on bass, the band’s immersive discography, including Bind, Bloom//Decay, and the upcoming Antivenom, has earned critical acclaim and a devoted live following. Their richly layered compositions pair ethereal vocals, propulsive rhythms, and atmospheric textures, creating deeply emotional soundscapes that resonate with both listeners and critics while establishing Darkswoon as a unique voice in the contemporary dark music scene.
Lauren Lakis makes songs that are steeped in darkness, but inside of them is a sense of hope. They are propelled by the possibility of emerging on the other side feeling less alone and fully transformed. On her debut album Deadlights, set for release on Riding Easy Records on May 8, 2026, she conjures a shifting reality—one defined by both distortion and clarity. Indebted to shoe gaze and ’90s alt rock, its 10 tracks are filled with ethereal vocals, melodic guitars, and a heavy low end.

But the biggest buzz around the band is their live shows. Whether they’re opening for Shame, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Wine Lips, or headlining themselves, the members leave every single thing out on stage with gigs routinely ending in incendiary showstoppers that find the lead singer tangled up in mic cords or diving into the crowd.

Jakki & The Pink Smudge - Named for the way Wise’s lipstick tends to smudge across her face during her energetic live performances, the Pink Smudge’s Y2K influences are both broad and unmistakable, meaningfully filtered through Wise’s distinct pop-punk lens. Still, there’s more to the Pink Smudge than just Wise’s spongy soprano and fuzzy guitar riffs—drummer Charlie Oakes and bassist Oliver Lester bring depth and muscle to the sound, giving the band its full, fleshy form.

Veradas’s debut album, Universal Relays, is a 10-song onslaught of sludgy riffs, tribal drums, harmony vocals, arty effects, and cathartic hooks. In some form or another, this beast of a record is conceptually or musically inspired by shoegaze, jazz, funk, 1990s grunge and alt-rock, Kraut rock, American psych, the madness of the Aussies, the abandonment of the Pacific Northwest, and, of course, The Every Brothers. Universal Relays will be preceded by the art-grunge single “Hud Money.”

Night Creature - Portland's glitchy fuzz art rock trio, Night Creatures, features Blake Hoss's haunting vocals and guitar, backed by Matt Baggett's pulsing bass and Cory Mack's hypnotic drumming. Drawing influence from garage rock and shoegaze while swapping blues licks for those reminiscent of Krautrock and shoegaze - Night Creatures evoke gloom and a heavy psychedelicism all their own.

Nuda - is a solo Darkwave/Industrial Artist based in Seattle, Washington. She brings instrumental soundscapes with "a feminine touch to industrial music." Nuda made her debut in 2019. Shortly after, she became a part of multiple industrial bands, DK-Zero and FleischKrieg, as the live performance keyboardist, landed a noted "Top 50 Album in 2021 & 2024"by ReGen Magazine. She has been continuing traction in the industrial music community by being support for Aesthetic Perfection, IAMX, Al1CE, Lead in to Gold, Matte Blvck, and more. Nuda's live performances feature physical elements and light shows blend together to create an immersive experience.

Doomed Romantics - Portland-based 19th Century Death-rock trio drawing inspiration from Christian Death, Bloody Dead and Sexy, and Pink Turns Blue. The band—comprised of Lucion Hall, Tyler Mechlem, and Doug Lantz—melds brooding atmospheres with raw energy to create a sound that’s both visceral and dynamic.

Human Hollow - is a Portland-based dark-synthpop act composed of Austin McKee (AKA Nomenclature) & Lucia Luna. Formed in the spring of 2024, this darkwave duo delivers a mix of Industrial-infused synthpop, post punk, dreamwave, alternative rock. Kallai with Double Wish (LA) and Sit Pretty
Kallai - Portland-based four-piece Kallai emerged in 2024 with a distinct alt/shoegaze sound, debuting with the single Always/Never in March, followed by the post-punk-infused Palisades, which earned a spot on KEXP’s Audioasis Best of 2024 playlist. Their self-titled EP arrived in June, less than a year after the band’s formation by members of Trance to the Sun, Lost Echoes, and Luscious Apparatus.
Double Wish is the Orange County-based project of Adam Sabolick and Philippe Andre. Since 2020, they've written, recorded, and performed across the West Coast releasing their debut EP Light Split Sparkle in 2023 via Hit The North Records. Follow-ups Universe Sometimes (2024) and Deeper Ecstasy (2025) leading to their debut album Double Wish, released August 2025. Blending influences from The Sundays to Underworld and Cocteau Twins, their sound finds a dreamy middle ground, earning support from Stereogum, KEXP, KCRW, FLOOD Magazine, and more.
Sit Pretty A shoegaze/dreampop/post-punk quartet from the Pacific Northwest, formed in 2018. After releasing two DIY albums and weathering Covid and lineup shifts, they resurfaced in 2022 with renewed energy — touring the West Coast heavily and recording their third album The Earth Died (produced by Jordan Porto), set for release this spring as their first vinyl. The current lineup — Dan Duncan, Bennett Mohler, Brett Smith, and Delaney Smith — brings over a decade of PNW touring and recording experience. Their sound blends soft melodies, tight rhythms, and layers of noise. They hope it makes you feel something good.

Iroiro (SEA) Led by members of the inimitable IQU, Michiko Swiggs (synths) and Kento Oiwa (guitar/theremin), Iroiro also feature drummer Justin Schwartz (Cobra High) and bassist/synthesist James Drage (SIL2K). They prove that having a singer is unnecessary when you create music this potently psychedelic. Iroiro haven't been around very long, but their impact so far has been seismic among true heads, and moving forward, it's only going to intensify.

Rick Bain & The Genius Position –For more than two decades, Portland singer‑songwriter Rick Bain has sculpted some of the city’s most captivating psychedelic rock. He first turned heads in 1997 when he re‑created the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds on a 4‑track recorder in his apartment, playing every instrument himself (a feat covered in this early profile). Bain formed the Genius Position and released the hypnotic blend of Pink Floyd‑meets‑Beatles pop Crooked Autumn Sun (2000). The album earned rave reviews from outlets like the Village Voice and L.A. Weekly, and Anton Newcombe of the Brian Jonestown Massacre later said it was the album he wished he’d made.
Bain followed with Virtual Heavy Pet (2004), a Brit‑pop‑inflected record whose standout tracks “Welcome To My Daydream” and “Amy Jane” are celebrated in reviews. After stepping back to raise a family and work outside of music (a comeback story told in PDX Magazine), he returned with the shimmering Keep It Glowing (2019) and a 20th‑anniversary vinyl edition of Crooked Autumn Sun in 2020. Today Bain performs only a handful of shows each year with a line‑up that includes his wife Amy Jane on bass and organist/manager Byron Lee. This is a rare chance to witness a true Portland legend in an intimate setting.

The Mistons are a Portland Oregon New Wave Rock Garage band. Raw, Passionate, Unbridled.
High Glow drifts between a euphoric daydream and an acid flashback. Known for their fuzzed-out guitar tones, driving rhythms, and thunderous beats layered beneath shimmering, bleached-out vocals. Their signature style affectionately dubbed, “Sludge-Gaze” evokes the early ’90s while weaving in nostalgic threads of grunge, post-punk, sludge, and shoegaze. It’s grunge with a cherry on top.

Is it shoegaze? Is it dreampop? It’s just Pure Hex. Born in San Francisco’s DIY music scene, this 5 piece band has conjured their own spellbinding take on alternative rock and 90’s grunge nostalgia. Reminiscent of Deftones, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Mazzy Star, they’ll hit you hard with swirling guitars and colossal drums while pulling you deeper with dreamy, haunting vocals.
Pure Hex released the first half of their double LP Spilling in May 2024 via Everett-based label Neon Bloodbath, followed by the second half of the record in 2025.

Shanea celebrates their new album Animal Instincts with LASKA and likestjoan — a night of heartfelt indie, folk, and raw, powerful songs!
Shanea is a singer songwriter based in Portland Oregon, whose writing spans the depths of indie folk to rock. They have been featured on Portland Radio Project with their songs “Bathroom Floor” and “My Kind” from their EP “The Fifth House.” They have captivated audiences in Portland with their live performances solo as well as with their band. They are able to move people with their heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies. Their love for songwriting and dedication to the deeply personal makes their discography ever evolving. They are inspired by the lyrics and composition of artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Fiona Apple, and Adrianne Lenker. They released an EP 'The Fifth House' in 2019 and released their single “Bathroom Floor” in 2020. They released ‘Root Rot’ in 2024, and their newest album ‘Animal Instincts’ in February of 2026.
Laska is the project of sisters Hannah and Mookie Morton, blending distorted guitars, delicate vocals, and wailing violin into something both tender and powerful. Their songs move between careful, dreamlike harmonies and raw, cathartic bursts—music that feels like stepping into a vivid memory. Now based in Portland, they’re joined by Kai Nealis (drums) and Kate Koller (bass).

MODBANG PDX returns to The Six with a stacked night of live hardware electronic music, celebrating Ramon’s birthday in proper underground fashion. This edition brings together some of Portland’s most forward-thinking synth artists, modular heads, and machine-driven performers for a deep dive into analog sound, pulse, and texture.
Production Unit Xero anchors the bill with their precise, hypnotic modular sets. Kid Camaro brings their raw, frenetic synth energy. IFSH folds techno, IDM, and rhythmic experimentation into one fluid performance. Microvan delivers glitchy, elastic grooves built from an ever-evolving patchwork of machines. Visual artist Cyclop Toad transforms the room with immersive, reactive projections built specifically for the Modbang ethos.
If you’re into modular rigs, weird machines, or left-field electronic music that’s actually performed live—this is one of Portland’s essential nights.
