Sit Pretty with Night School (oak) and Computer room

  • The Midnight Society 3341 Southeast Belmont Street Portland, OR, 97214 United States (map)

Night School With a knack for blending sweet vocal melodies with interwoven guitars, Night School has been gaining attention for their dreamy indie sound and fun visuals. This all-girl, pet-obsessed 4-piece of earth-signs arrived at their current configuration by being introduced via friends separately over a 7-year period. Alexandra Morte (Velvet Gentleman, Camera-Shy) is the original member from 2013, followed by Cheyenne Avant (Fawning), Cara LP (MOGGS, Miss Minor), and Sarah Vyeda (who’s been playing guitar for years but this is her first band and experience with songwriting!).
Hailing from Oakland, CA, Night School's had a steady presence sharing the stage with acts such as Phoebe Bridgers, Best Coast, and Nothing. Their 3rd full-length album, Invoke (out this fall), is best described as bedroom rock since they recorded from each of their homes. But with wide technical access and mixing by Nick Bassett, the album sounds much larger than 4 walls. Be sure to check out their video, Juniper, for the first single where they turn a sweet photoshoot into a flower massacre.

Sit Pretty Bred but not born in Portland, the cats that make up Sit Pretty convened in a basement studio in 2018, deciding to create a focal point for each of their decade-long music careers in the area. The resulting blend of noisy sonic textures, tight beats and gentle melodies made them happy and they hope it makes you happy too.

Computer Room is like stumbling into a neon-lit dreamscape where nostalgia and melancholy dance hand in hand. Their sound is a lush blend of hazy shoegaze textures and shimmering indie pop, swirling together in a sonic cocktail that's both introspective and intoxicating. With reverb-soaked guitars that seem to echo from the distant corners of a forgotten memory and vocals that drift like a soft breeze through the haze, each track pulls you deeper into its atmospheric embrace. It's music for rainy afternoons and late-night drives, where every note feels like a moment suspended in time, simultaneously bright and brooding. The album radiates a vibe that's both retro and refreshingly new, perfect for those who like their melodies drenched in emotion and their rhythms wrapped in a velvet fog.
